Actually, the service was launched in "beta" well over a year ago. So no, it wasn't a response to StockTwits. But for the record, I think StockTwits is a great resource and definitely one that I recommend everybody should look into.

StockTwits is an excellent resource, but to me it's an entirely different experience. I'd highly recommend it to a day trader, for example, who wants fast-paced investment information communicated in 140 characters or less. If you're looking for well-reasoned, thoughtful answers to your specific investing questions, I think you'll find the Q&A format here to be very valuable.
