scottrade is a good broker, but there are many to choose from, so take a look at many before choosing one.

If you want a local broker, Merril Linch is one. They charge about $100/trade, but you might be able to get some more personized person to person advice. Etrade seems pretty good to me for an online broker. They have pretty good phone support. I haven't tryed the others. There are a lot of them.

Scottrade has tools for tracking trades (GainsKeeper) and following ticker trades
and I've made hundreds and lost hundreds, but Merrill Lynch steered me into two
100X baggers- $500 for 32 shares of Harley in Oct'87 I sold Jan'03 for $50,000
SPLIT 6 times- Like PC memory, 32 went to 64, then 128, then 256, then 512, then
1024 and I sold out in Harley's 100th ann. Who'd want a 101st anniversary bike?
Got 400 shares of LNG at 80cents in fall 2001. Sold it in 2005 at $80. Thks ML
