Find an online broker, fill out the account information, send in the payment to fund the account or electronically transfer the funds from your bank account to the brokerage account. Charles Schwab makes it easy to open an account and fund it. (I do not work for them, but I do have accounts with them).

Simple process really - choose an online broker of your choice, provide them with personal information. I have an account with Scottrade, which I thought was best with easy trading at only $7/trade. It has no minimum funding requirement and offers extensive research tools at your disposal.
