I would listen to the company's investor conference calls ,which you usually can access at their websites,to get a feel for how the company is doing.Do a seach on Google for the company to find anything you can about them. Read the message boards at Yahoo Finance to find out what other's are saying about the company.Check how well the company is doing compared to it's peers. Check to see if insiders are buying or selling their shares.Try to determine how the company's products/services demand will be effected by the recession.
