To me, the minimum no of shares to purchase is 100 in one lot, so you can't purchase 10 share.

You can purchase as many or as few shares of a public company as you wish... even just one share. The 100 shares previously cited is referred to as a "round lot" and is the easiest to transact. Just be careful of the brokerage commission when buying a small number of shares, especially if the shares are "cheap."
