The round lot of Freeport McMoran is $6600.00 + any brokerage fee. A round lot trade is usually quickly executed, and the fee's usually less than buying an odd lot, e.g., 12 shares, at most brokerages.

There are, for many companies, direct purchase plans, and once a month, or once a quarter, these are aggregated at the company's registration agent, and combined to be purchased, often at an average price or at some small discount to the current price.

But you can find this at the Company's site, under "investor relations", and this is often a way to consider Dividend Reinvestment Purchases (DRIPS), which buys additional shares with dividends. Some of the companies charge small fees, some don't. But If you go the direct purchase route, you have to be very careful to keep good records, because the company will report to the IRS, and you will need the records of income, charges to buy/sell, and prices for your tax returns.
