Why are YGE and other alternative energy stocks (e.g., APWR and TSL) so volatile?

Because they are in hot new area of clean energy. They all get ahead of their true value due to high hope, and then comes the changes in technology that would change the production costs. Fund managers and the public have to adjust their holdings due to the new information, some use the opportunity to lock in part of their gain. These are the reasons that I can see.
